分類に関するメモ：Kudo & Masuda (1986) はアッケシイトグサをキブリイトグサ（Melanothamnus japonicus）の異名同種（シノニム）としましたが，Savoie & Saunders (2015) は，アッケシイトグサを独立の種として再評価しました。Savoie & Saunders (2019)は，アッケシイトグサをイトグサ属（Polysiphonia）からメラノタムヌス属（Melanothamnus）に移しました。
